Leigh-on-Sea and 'Project 78'
Tony Irons, my Grandpa, had a passion for photography and he spent several decades visually recording Leigh-on-Sea, London and Stavanger, developing the negatives in a darkroom in his house. These drawings were inspired by my Grandpa's black and white photography, this series of drawings focuses on his work in the Leigh-on-Sea area in 1978. Tony had an eye for composition and strongly contrasting tones are a common feature of his work. My aim is to capture the essence of his work while bringing my own artistic style into view.
